Archie Alpha

This is the ‘about the author’ section included in issue ONE of the zine.

It feels a little vain to devote four pages of a zine to myself, but consider this a brief ‘about the author.’ After this I’ll retreat behind the camera again. Unless I get desperate for models. We’ll see.

My relationship with kink began early. Slightly too young, I found myself tied up in a dungeon and quickly realised it was for me. Later, I channelled that fascination into my photography degree, centring kink in my work and eventually working within the scene itself. It is no longer my profession, but it remains very much my passion.

My tastes are broad, but if distilled, they centre on power dynamics, gear in all its forms, and bondage. I am drawn to the transformative quality of gear, whether sleek and commanding or deliberately subversive. There’s something compelling about arriving at a dom’s door to find an outfit laid out, having committed to comply.

For a time, a hidden disability limited how active I could be within the scene, shifting my perspective. Thankfully, that chapter is largely resolved, but it has cemented my belief that accessibility is an important part of the kink scene.

And yes, Archie is not the name on my passport. It is Simon. But pseudonyms are a tradition. Archie began as a pup name, a phase many of us flirt with in our twenties. Now, in my mid-thirties and tentatively aligning with a fursona, I find myself circling back.
